1 cup horsegram
6-7 small onions/shallots
1 inch ginger
6-7 garlic pods
2-3 green chillies
Few curry leaves
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 tspoon udad dal
1 tspoon mustard
1/2 cup grated fresh coxonut
1 tbspoon haldi, turmwric
Salt to taste
Soak the horsegram with enough water for atleast 7-8 hrs. Cook in pressure cooker for atleast 4-5 whistles.
Take a pan & pour coconut oil. Add udad dal, mustard & whèn it starts splutteringadd curryleavez, grated ginger, crushed garlic, slit green chillies. When sauteed, add the well cooked hoesegram , salt & turmeric & cook well with the lid closed in low fire for 7 mins. Now add fresh grated coxonut & your delucious yet nourishing mudhirai thoran is ready. You can have it as a side dish with sambar & rice or even have it as a nutritious snack inbetween meals !
